]]>I will have some free time in the city and would like to take the opportunity to view other things of heraldic/armorial interest. Anybody have any suggestions?
]]>While cleaning house I stumbled upon an old letter written by one of my graduate advisors, the late Dr. Maurice Keen (he jokingly refers to Los Angeles Pursuivant of Arms Extraordinary). I had to post a scan: http://heraldryjunkyard.tumblr.com/post/133242900312

]]>Today is the 130th birthday of the arrival of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
I Thought it would be a great time to share the document conveying ownership to the United States from France, which I saw online. particularly since there is a heraldic connection.

I am particularly interested in the coat of arms on the right side of the page. On the left side, it’s clearly the arms of the US. Wondering if the one on the right is associated with the Third Republic?
Incidentally, this was a difficult post on which to decide which category to place it in the forums. If it needs to go elsewhere, please feel free to move.
