Based on Seb Nelson’s short piece in the new issue of the Coat of Arms, I’ve just added the arms of Jose de Escandon, leader of the first successful Spanish colonization of south Texas, to the REAA and the roll of arms of founders of early European settlements.

This is a most worthwhile project, both to demonstrate a broader range of our heraldic heritage and as a counter-balance to an often excessively Anglo-centric focus in this country.
