An Italian winery called Serègo Alighieri uses the following arms:

I believe that there is a connection to the Italian poet laureate Dante Alighieri (d.1321), but I am not familiar enough with the provenance of the arms to be sure.
Does anyone have any idea of Dante was armigerous?
He’s on heraldica.org’s "armory of famous writers," http://www.heraldica.org/topics/famous/writers.htm
as bearing Per pale Or and Sable a fess Argent, with the note that the modern arms of the family are Azure a wing Argent. The source cited is Pompeo Litta, Famiglie Celebri Italiane.
Thanks!!
