Hello folks,

Thanks for the help getting my membership straightened out.

Now, onto the fun stuff.

I got some great ideas from the previous thread where I posed some questions about ways to pass on arms to my forthcoming little tyke. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I have, more or less, settled on maintaining the shield and coming up with a unique crest for the youngling. I figure that this method would allow for a unique look for the kiddo while still maintaining the familial ties expressed by a coat of arms.

The wife and I have more or less settled on names for a boy or a girl and I have started coming up with ideas for crests for the boy. I was hoping I could share some here and get some feedback/criticisms/suggestions.

I have two basic motifs I’m thinking.

First, and to be honest not my favorite, is a Griffin holding the crest nebulee from mom’s shield

Second, the one that has grown on me, is a saltier nebulee either supported on Wings gules or winged itself. Here are a few variations

2B1.

2B2. (would be blazoned the same as above just turned)

So. what do you wonderful people think? Any and all feedback would be awesome.

FWIW the first one; though while the kid is little, perhaps a less hostile-looking bird wink

I like the last one too… hmm, i need to futz with the art a bit but I think that one is the best one…

I use an outdated version of Adobe Illustrator that I picked up somewhere for the vector parts but then GIMP because I suck at working with vectors.

Toh-MAY-toe,  toh-MAH-toe… wink

So it’s a cat-bird (kitty-birdie?) with your wife’s chevron ... even with the furry ears, I still like it better than just the wings with the odd saltire, but that’s just my personal reaction.

If you do go with the wings & saltire, could the outline of the saltire be a little lessbusy/bulky in the center?  that is, more like the interior corner of your wife’s chevron?

Have you considered having the wings with the saltire on them?

"On a vol Gules a saltrie nebulee Argent" or something like that.

That’s an interesting thought. But I’m having a tough time visualizing what it would look like… Do you know of something similar you can link me to for a visual cue? I’ll tinker with something myself too.

I think the second one is more illustrative.
