Good for remedial heraldic education!  No one during the Renaissance would have carried an orange shield, with or without red and blue charges on it.

JS - your signature block includes the following, which you might share with whoever created this visual affront; hopefully he will see the relevance:

"It seems to me that at this time we need education in the obvious more than the investigation of the obscure."

This particular Renaissance Faire is going through a period of un-Renaissance-y-ness like has never been seen.  This coat isn’t the worst of it.

AND it’s on the front of an ale stand.

But it can be blazoned, I’m sure.

It’s hard to believe the Laurel King of Arms passed this. This could be rogue.

Great!  Now we can have an SCA "Court of Chivalry" case to reference in the future.

No. Not SCA.  Renaissance Faire

(Yes, "faire" with an "e")

At least the SCA, at least way back when & hopefully now, exerted some level of heraldic structure, within their own rules, to their own events.  Ren Faires, on the other hand, seem to be free for alls, at least heraldically.
