I decided to emblazon the shield that was designed many months ago for my Stolarz genealogy project.  As some of you may remember, we were undecided on if it should have a crest or not.  Anyway, just a project I’m having fun with.

This is really very nice Joshua. For the sake of proportion, perhaps the chevron could be tweaked a little? I’m partial to nails, as you know ..... :D Could it be interesting to see the chevron and nails Or?

Nicely done - can you remind us of the symbology, who it was for, etc?

It will be used as a family association arms.  The surname Stolarz translates to carpenter in Polish, so the nails were an obvious charge to add.  I also added a chevron in the middle of the shield to represent a carpentry square.  Originally I had it going all the way to edges of the shield, but it made it look to British.  By having it the way it is now, it gives it more of a Polish feel.

More Polish, and also a better reference to the carpenter’s square.

Nice as is—a crest might add more flair (or not, depending on the design!)  but not more visual clarity and simplicity.  The shield, maybe with the organization name around it, would be clean and clear even if shown in a very small size.
