I have been messing about discovering different finishing techniques and have used the shield of Marcus Karlsson for this purpose. This gives this particular effort that aged look.

Very nice, Barrie - Marcus has had a tough year, being the art is labelled 2009… 
Perhaps he just forgot to take his shield out of his jeans pocket before they went in the wash? :D
I like the effect. It looks like you can just begin to see the wood grain showing through the places where the paint wore thin.
That’s just what happens when your kids get ahold of your shield and play Knights of the Round Table. :D
