Regrettably I can’t manage to upload an avatar. Still a whole in the software-structure or a whole in my comprehension?

Hello, Reinhard.  If you look up near the top of the posting area, you’ll see a black horizontal bar.  At the far left is a link entitled "User CP."  Click that, and you should be taken to a page with a set of control panels down the left hand side.  One of these is "Edit Avatar."  From there you can either upload an avatar from your own computer or from the Web.

(I’m assuming here that there’s not something in the settings of the new forum that precludes non-members of the AHS from uploading avatars.)

Non-members can use custom avatars and profile pictures.

thanks for your quick answer. I’ve been there before and tried to "edit my avatar", but for me its impossible to unclick the button "Do not use an avatar".

May be "Members only" now?

Glad to see the forum back.

I am not only testing my ability to use the forum, but also the uploading of a new avatar.  Only way to find out is to try.

This also is only a test post.

You could just crop the CoA down until just your hausmark is visible, then upload that.  It’s not going to look the best, but it’ll get it online.

To upload it, just go to the "User CP" menu, choose "Edit Avatar" then click on the "Choose File" button.  That’ll let you pick the image file from your hard drive that you want to use.  Click on "Save Changes" and that’s it.

If you have a copy of your CoA in vector image format (Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Fireworks, etc.) then it becomes easier…

I still had the file from when I rendered it when you joined.  I added a 3-D look to it.  Is that what you would like or do you want it flat?

3D looks great!  Lets go with that.
