OK. Thanks. I read it wrong then. My bad. smile

At least it clears it up for me, as I was under the impression that while the mantling could be gules doubled argent that the wreath remained of the colors so to speak.

They can, that is what he is saying:

My emphasis.  I also added [shield] to your sentence, as that is what I inferred.  If you did not mean "shield", then I’m wrong.
