I found the gallery of heraldic art by numerous artists most interesting. Serbia now has three or more heraldry societies which means that heraldry must be very popular there or that Serbs cannot agree with one another when it comes to the extraordinarily controversial and very emotional subject of heraldry.

Probably a little bit of both, David.

But this new Society is a bit different from the White Eagle or the CROM-BHGS, since it is just a Society of those who love and study heraldry, and it has no intention in dealing with creating or registering heraldry.

After all, this is why there are Members of this new Society both from the White Eagle and the CROM-BHGS, and also from other heraldic bodies from the region…

It is most unfortunate to see the proliferation of heraldic societies rather than seeing heraldists unite (to the extent possible) in one national heraldic society - especially since the long established and well-regarded White Eagle Society provides an armorial gallery and a discussion forum on its site -

I think David drew attention to the unfortunate conflicts among heraldists that can sometimes arise. (Any two heraldists have the potential to establish three heraldic societies - one in common and one for each of them when they disagree. smile) Hopefully these issues will eventually be resolved among Serbian heraldists.

PS Some of the images in the gallery appear to be simply copied from other sites - would it be appropriate to reference the sites from which they were borrowed?

It would be best to direct that question directly to the Society, George.
