A logo?

(I just got a pop up message saying my response has to be more than 10 characters… this should fix it.)

I believe that the blue ovals containing an image of the building as used by the White House, the State Department, the Treasury Department, the Pentagon and others are best described as "location identifiers". They allow the viewer to recognize the location and related governmental body that is giving the press conference without much thought. I see these "location markers" as a positive development in our government symbolics that supplement the seal of the office, department or agency appearing on the podium.

My first reaction was to the design itself—the round logo on the eagle’s tummy made it look more than a bit over-fed.  Whether the idea was clever or inappropriate, IMO it wasn’t artistically very successful.  "What do you get when you cross an eagle with a fat cat?"

No expressed political preference intended or implied—it would have looked equally silly with either of the other two senators standing behind it; though I would note that the contrast to the rather slender Senator from Illinois just made the eagle look even fatter by comparison.

Unfortunately I have been scarce on this forum lately, and I missed this entire discussion… Luckily we kept it on-topic and no one had to walk the plank. :pirate:

Yes I know, it is dangerous beating this particular dead horse, but…

We have another Obama campaign creation.  This time it seems to be the "Obama logo" placed upon a ghostly-blue US coat of arms.

It’s very….uh, ‘interesting’. Though it seems as if the central "O" emblem is the ‘big idea’ so to speak of the entire, achievement, and I use the term achievement loosely…very loosely. :D

It is also in reverse.  Look at the motto in the upper right.

I see "E PLURIBUS UNUM".  What do you see?

The motto is correct. I think the eagle might be facing the wrong way, maybe?

You’re both right.  I was straining so hard to see it, my eyes reversed.
