Yes. You get an A.
Joseph,
Thank you for the article. I’ve read most of the presidential ones, and found each very interesting.
One note on the Arthur article…For obvious reasons I was interested in the link you provided for the debate on Clarions, but it appears that the link to the article doesn’t work.
Sorry, typo in the URL. When will I learn to just cut and paste? Thanks for catching it. It’s now fixed; the link is http://www.heraldica.org/topics/clarion.htm.
AHS forum user Lew Jaffe, who maintains an excellent blog on bookplates with lots of heraldic content, has given me permission to add a photo of President Arthur’s plate to the article. A typically 19th century emblazonment. His home page is at http://bookplatejunkie.blogspot.com/; the Arthur bookplate is in his June 2006 entry at http://bookplatejunkie.blogspot.com/2006/06/milestone-reached-technorati-ranking.html. Thanks very much to Lew Jaffe.
I have updated the Arthur article to add a drawing of the 1882 Presidential flag and correct some heraldically minor misinformation.
Joe, Great article, as always. And, thanks for your kind words. Great to be back.
