Can anyone think of a charge or charges to represent abstract concepts like solemnity & seriousness?  I would greatly appreciate some good ideas.

Tricky!

My first thought was a pile in bend point in base — a "grave" accent.

My second thought was a balance with one pan or half a balance, in either case, the beam bendwise or bend sinster-wise, to show that one is weighing something heavy, weighty — something with "gravitas."

What are you trying to do here?

Religious, secular, or doesn’t matter?

I was thinking for solemn " A manger, in sinister chief a mullet of 8 points " or something like that. But I do not know if that would be appropriate.

Just thinking out loud.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your ideas.  The symbolism should, however, be more secular.

"Diligence" is represented by a stork reguardant holding a stone.  Perhaps for "solemnity & seriousness" a stork holding a stone but staring at the stone. What about Argent on a pale fractured Sable a plate?
