UK Technology & IT site The Register notes that the University of Waterloo in Canada has been attacked by the usual logo maniacs with a heavy barrage of their usual buzz-words.

Yikes, as a Graphic Designer it boggles my mind why some people try to make things "hip and current" that generate 3rd rate logos such as this. It is saddening. Wish I were a student or alum, I would sign off on not having it changed. Despite what the "client" wants and the fact that the University is a "business" and wants to boost its image, these poorly designed logos fuel the fire… and there was much head-scratching.
The new one looks like "Star Wars Gone Mad!" or "Revolting Jedi Lights!" I shudder to think of the future uses.
They should be sued by the manufacturers of Pick-Up Sticks.
