The Mark Elvins Lecture:
"Modern Trends in Ecclesiastical Heraldry "
The Reverend Father Guy W. Selvester, MDiv MA
This talk, touching on both Roman Catholic and Anglican heraldic practices, will trace the decline and revival of ecclesiastical heraldry in recent decades. It will also discuss the development of systems for external ornaments as well as recurring themes in the designs and emblazonments of the coats of arms of the clergy.
Chairman: Dr Malcolm Golin, MB BS HonFHS
All lectures will take place at St George’s German Lutheran Chapel, Alie Street E1 at 6.30 pm.
If Roland Symons happens to be in attendance, tell him I said hello!
Since I doubt I’ll ever get to go to England I won’t have the chance to greet my friend in person.
Things went rather well last Wednesday and the talk seemed to be well received. I hope to publish it in article form in the not-too-distant future.
