Seb,

Great images.  http://jens.gersdorff.de/Interessantes/Familie/Adelsbrief/Die_Worte/die_worte.html

The German Adelsbrief’s ending paragraph states "So seen and given in Our new Palace at Potsdam on the Tenth day of the Month of October One-thousand Eightynine after the birth of Christ Our Lord and in the second year of Our Royal Governance." (or Kingly Government).

Higher up, in the body of the patent, it states the recipient,
Quote:

Karl Robert Hermann Erdmann Gersdorff, a Major in the 3rd Schlesischen Dragoons Regiment [?] 15 and Adjutant of the 18th Division .... together with his already existing and lawfully-conjugual direct descendants [??] and male descendants, as a continuing monument to our [vuld???] and Grace to be listed into the hereditary nobiliary of Our monarchy and Lands and award [lit. "lend"] to him and his lineal descendants all the rights, honors, and advantages of this Condition, in particular the right to be called and write "von", as well as the following described Coat of Arms: [blazon purposefully not attempted!!!] :D

He is later twice named as Karl Robert Hermann Erdmann von Gersdorff

Cheers,

OOPS   Yes, 1889 .... I left out the "Eight-hundred"

Thanks for catching my error of omission.
