I agree that this is nice without the ermine spots. I almost didn’t put them on there when I was drawing it, but I wanted Jesse to see his idea as presented. I think this would be a really nice coat of arms with the bear as a nice crest. I think that’s a winner right there.
Just throwing this out there because I’d already put it together. Another variation on a theme:

Oh wow! Thanks for makin these Kenneth and Josh! I’ve been trying to put them together myself but having a hard time on illustrator. I gotta say, this is the one that jumped out at me the most (with and without the ermine. I like them both). I’m on my phone right now I’ll reserve complete judgment until I get home from work later tonight. Can I make one request though? Is it possible to see one with three oak branches/acorns instead ofthe three stars? I like the idea of keeping that for the canting.
Just throwing out an idea here, rough draft of course.
Gathering all the elements desired on the shield.
Three stars per fess in cheif
A Double arched Fess (the book or the CA. hills)
Passant Bear
I am showing different tincture ideas yet the third one stays within the three tinctures, were as, the top two would be four tinctures.

It is my personal opinion that using the fur Ermine to allude to a bear is as ridiculous as using the animal Ermine to allude to a bear. Aside from that, the composition of these examples doesn’t look very good to me. Other opinions may differ.
Funny, how someone pretty much bashes your idea only to see a FUR come into other peoples design work.
Ken, my honest opinion on this comment is… I was THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX. A fur can represent ANY fur bearing animals for symbolic purposes. Seeing the fur on the shield with the bear in the crest, if JCar ends up choosing such element, I would think cause an association recognization situation. Using the fur would help with simplicity on the sheild as well.

The difference being Jesse is the OP and the person requesting help.

I respectfully disagree. Ermine represents ermine - the dark spots being the dark tail of the ermine - just as Vair represents squirrel fur sewn with alternating dark back and light belly.
And please, my name is Kenneth.
I like Kenneth’s post 57 and post 65 with acorns slipped. <thus sayeth the peanut gallery>

I like both of the ones without the gold. Nice.

I really like this one.
Then again, I’m partial to the simpler dual-tincture shields.
While I still prefer it with the stars, the one with the acorn branch done in argent is pretty nice as well.

If only the bear was dancing this could be nice arms for Jerry Garcia.
Those arms look African somehow.
I gotta say, seeing these on my computer screen is nice. I think my favorite is still the one with the stars and no ermine (although I really do the line ermine as well). It just seems to pop and be bold. And I agree, using the bear and other ideas I originally had up on the crest would really stand out nicely. This is most definitely a contender. It has passed to the "Refrigerator Round"!
I didn’t like the acorns as much because for some reason the acorns just look a little silly to me. I like the white branches but don’t love it which kinda makes me sad because I’m really starting to like the idea of the oak leaves as a cant. That’s not something I had ever thought about before and now I really want to try and include that somehow.
I did some cutting and pasting of the various versions and put this together as just another subtly different option. Not sure how I feel about it just yet. Like it, but don’t necessarily love it. Sorry, don’t know how to insert a picture for everyone to see so it’s an attachment.

I actually really love this one as well. Back at the very beginning of this I probably would have said yes right away because it’s blue and gold and a bear. It’s definitely "me". Now I’m really leaning to the green, black, and white to try and tie in more of the family past. Is there a way you can make it a white background with green branches and a black bear? I know we’d be adding a 3rd tincture which would defeat the purpose of the 2 color scheme but I’d love to see how that looks.
