Guy is a most proficient artist, including leather work, so I suspect it’s primarily the holster (he can answer for himself of course, but he’s too modest to toot his own horn).
OK - I see Guy is a registered user and not a member - I’m going to start a new thread in Introductions, comments area, etc (hoiping for moderator indulgence since Off Topic is in a member’s only area) ... Would have gone to off topic, but… Don’t want to exclude the dude who wants the pics!
Mike, your praise should be directed towards people like Denny, et alia; .... but, thank you nonetheless.
Kathy, I’d be interested in seeing both holster and pistol (I’ve a 2nd generation Colt’s Single Action Army in .357).
To keep this post on topic, here’s a concealed carry holster I made:

And an "in progress" of a pipe bag that was later stolen when my car was burgled one night. The finished piece had 8 miniature medals hanging below the bottom row of beads on the shield side—giving the piece an ‘authentic’ look: really "brassy"; and an addition of an 8" leather "quill work" drop (hangey-down piece) with 10" fringe attached to the bottom of the drop. Sooooo sad. :(
Guy—seems a shame to have such nice work "concealed!"
I am curious re: the arms on the holster—you thinking of changing your arms?
Would you consider bringing it—sans pistola por favor!—to our Wappenluncheon on 6/1?
Mike:
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes

Back to heraldry:
The Heater has arrived and it’s quite hefty! It took some damage at the base point, but I shall see if that can be touched up a bit.

Congratulations on your purchase Kathy. That is stunning!
That is a very nice piece of work. I have considered creating an authentic shield with my coat of arms on it, but have had trouble locating any type of instruction on such an endeavor. The closest things you tend to find are shields made by people who are doing reenactments, and most of those shields are just curved pieces of plywood…not what this purist would consider.

There’s usually a HUGE Ren faire in Norther CA each year - and although MUCH re enactment… I’d wager there’s a few purists around there as well (generally they have some jousting stuff going on) who maybe could point you in the correct direction… And, many years ago when I went - it was great fun!
Wow! The shield looks great Kathy. We just got back from Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament a week ago. My two older boys (6 & 4) really soaked it all up. They have talked about nothing but knights & shields ever since! Maybe I should look into something like this myself!
Thanks for sharing this Kathy.

Do you know where in Northern California?
Kathy - Your shield really is fantastic. It’s a shame it will get so battered as you battle the invading hordes each day.
