If the billets were rotated 90 degrees and colored or on a vert field they *might* be thought to resemble buried coffins, viewed from a cross-section perspective…
Add a chief/per fess partition argent and the allusion is more overt…
An allusion to a cemetery could be Per fess invected Azure and Pappeloné inverted Argent.

Shoveller.
Oh okay- just Googled it!
Currently looking at:
- Per fess or/argent, verte semy of billets or in base
- Verte semy of billets or
- Verte semy of billets or bordered or
Anyone feel like doing some rendering so I can see a few of them non-sketched?
Ken’s latest two suggestions are interesting & worth considering the papellonee inverted is particularly unique & clever, though maybe with the pattern a bit larger—easier to see at a distance or in small scale;. If not for M, both perhaps for future new designs.
Sticking to the latest ones M seems to favor—if you go for a simple field billety consider arranging the billets bendwise to be a little different (did Kathy already suggest that?)

If you like the field divided per fess in green & gold, how about "Per fess Or & Vert, in chief three bends and in base billetty all counterchanged"? (or "Per fess, in chief bendy Or and Vert and in base Vert billetty Or")
Two colors is simpler than three (tho’ I’m not one to talk!), and you can easily get "full color" by stamping green ink on yellow or cream-colored paper (or vice-versa) which repeated many times over a larger surface would make nice wrapping paper for family birthdays & Xmas)
At this point I’m trying to decide between:
verte semy billets or
per fess argent and or, verte semy billets or in chief
per fess argent and or, sanquine semy billets or in chief.

Matthew, I don’t think you have to immediately decide on anything. I’d suggest a month or so of ‘fridge test’ of all three designs to see if there’s one you begin to prefer or feel at home with. Remember, any decision you make will be yours for (hopefully) a very, very long time.

Good idea. This weekend I’ll draw up all three and put them on the fridge to see which is more eye catching.

For the last two, do you mean basically divided in three: top Vert (or Sanguine) billety Or; middle Argent; bottom Or?
Nope, that was just bad blazoning. Gold billets on a green/ dark red background.
"per fess argent and or, verte semy billets or in chief
per fess argent and or, sanquine semy billets or in chief."
which you clarified as, "Gold billets on a green/ dark red background."
So that would be:
per fess Sanguine [or Vert] semy of billets Or, and Or?
(Sounds nice, just want to have the intended picture in my head)
