Hi all,

Just logged in for the first time in awhile because I realized I had not received anything about AHS membership in awhile and wanted to make sure my membership hadn’t lapsed.  I was fully paid up through 2012, but didn’t immediately think to renew in 2013.  Just rectified that by PayPal.

A couple notes:  When I tried to renew via the AHS page, it tried to convince me that I had not paid for 2012, even though I have the receipt to prove it.  Then when I tried to pay "for 2012" anyway, it failed.  So I had to send the money manually via PayPal.

A second note:  I haven’t been good about reading my newsletters, given other happenings in my life.  But I want to support the Society and remain a member.  Would it be possible to receive a simple email reminder to renew in January each year?

I hope everyone is well!

Kyle

Kyle: Thank you for renewing. The January reminder is a good idea—and frankly, I believe may have been brought up before—and I will see about configuring that. As for the difficulty in renewing, I will look into it and see what the breakdown was. Thanks, Hugh

Thanks, Hugh.  Certainly a lot of, er, all of, the fault of not renewing rests with me, but my addled brain would love a reminder!

I am still showing as a "registered user" and not a member, though, and I’d love to be restored to my former "glory."  Who should I contact about that?

Just renewed my membership, and everything seemed to go smoothly.

Have you submitted your arms for inclusion?

Yes. Hmmm, maybe my membership has lapsed and the process stops if that happens?

Many thanks, I am restored!

However, how do I, also, get my arms restored to the Armorial?

There is a process for requesting inclusion: http://www.americanheraldry.org/pages/index.php?n=PolicyManual.DisplayArms

If you were a member whose arms were in the armorial and your membership lapsed, then you need to request a restoration by emailing (not PMing) the Secretary. If you did do this, I apologize but the requests sometimes get caught in my spam folder.

I think I have renewed for 2013, but can I check this somewhere?

I have checked the records, Claus, and you did in fact pay in November for this year. I have forwarded this to Hugh for the society’s records and to Kimon to get you reinstated.

Thanks for understanding.
