The colors below don’t clarify much…maybe: Bendy lozengy Argent and Azure a lion rampant Sable between three trefoils Gules, two in chief and one in base, on a chief quarterly Argent and Sable a cross bottony thoughout counterchanged.

What is the crest?

Mike,

The only suggestion I’d make on your blazon is "lozengy bendy Argent and Azure" (slight change of word order).  The field is from the Bavarian arms, and Bavarians always mention the white first—as I learned to my pain a couple of years ago when I described the Bavarian flag as "blue and white."

In fact, they do always ensure that the upper dexter diamond in the field is Argent.

I have always read the Bavarian to be "paly bendy." I agree about the color order. I like Bavarians - they’re a lot like Texans - Bavarians first, Germans second.
