It’s actually the principal charge in my arms, the crest I use is a talbot rampant regardant.  If it would be in use already, I’d just have my motto encircled around it.

I’ll be hard pressed to give this badge up!

I used the Eagle to show my respect and adoration to my father.  My father is of Spanish/German descent, and my mother if full blooded Italian.  We’ve (my family) have always considered ourselves "Italian" and have never paid much attention to our Spanish/German heritage.  While I was doing a lot of my genealogical research, I had my father involved and it really strengthened our relationship and brought us closer than we had ever been.  So, I wanted to let my father know that I’m just as proud of my Spanish/German heritage as I am of my Italian.  I posted the long long story of my armorial beginnings in another section, when I find the link I’ll post it for reference.

Also the Norman-Irish family of de Poer

The names Eustace and Hubert have been popular over the centuries in the de la Poer/Poher Power family of County Waterford.  They have the the Red Deer stag’s head with a crucifix between the antlers as an heraldic crest.  This now forms part of County Waterford’s coat of arms and can be seen in many places in the county, especially those associated with the Power family.

This poses an interesting question.  Say that my badge would have been adopted by another individula as a crest, what would the issue be?  Would I be obliged to stop using the badge, or since my badge isn’t part of my achievement, would it be a moot issue?

I know the object is to have a unique CoA, but what line is drawn with badges?

I’m thirsty now… LOL

Take care,

I don’t know how anyone can drink that stuff; its like drinking candy (shivers at the thought while sipping on some Buchanan’s De Luxe whisky not "EY" mind you, but "Y", the tell tale sign of real Scotch)

I could only ever drink it only after a long climb, after reaching the "Spitzkreuz" (summit cross) in the Barvarian Alps.  It doesn’t taste bad then—but when trying it at the almshuette in a nice warm cozy space ... it tastes as you describe.  Yuk

I don’t think there would be any issue.  Crests are not always unique to one person/family.  But I would think a discerning person would change the design just a bit.  In my case—if/when I petition for different Arms—I’d use the de Poer crest, but would color the stag Gules, and change the cross to be a cross formée branchée:

Mohamed: I especially like the simplicity of your design. Would you please explain the reason for the gold or yellow crescent moon and three stars? Why three crescents on the shield, and why the color green?

Andrew: you mention your Italian heritage: do you know what the arms (if any?) of the French Italian de Liette (di Lietto?) family looked like? My ancestor, Pierre de Juzan (of the French Pyrenees) was the intendent of the estates of the Count of Ponchartrane; his brother Sauveur de Juzan, Ponchartane’s courrier to the King; and brother Jaques de Juzan (bad eyes?) a marine supply officer. Pierre wed Michelle de Liette, Verssaillies, of "of the King’s cabins". She was somehow kin to Canadian aide Maj. Charles Pierre de Liette, killed with Capt. Antone de Tonty, in combat against Chickasaws, in the 1730’s Second Battle of Ackia, Tupelo, Mississippi Military District.

Michelle’s son; Mobile, Alabama, aide Maj. Pierre Grabriel de Juzan, my ancestor; was killed in the First Battle of Ackia. His son "Don Pedro", Pierre Francoise Gabriel de Juzan, His Spanish Majesty’s Indian Commissioner to Alabama, is a DAR ally Patriot because he ran Spanish service agents against British service agents amongst the Indians. Pedro’s grandson, Chief Capt. Pierre Gabriel de Juzan, inn keeper of Juzan Lake, Missisippi, in 1815 led 52 Choctaws from the swamp against the British right flank in the Battle of New Orleans.

I do not know if there is a Mobile, Alabama, "Pelican Girls" society, and if there is a society, if it has a coat of arms. But a "Pelican Girls" coat-of-arms would be a good symbol for such. Ancestor Etienne Burel was banished to France from Canada because he accused the governor of corruption. At a hearing in France, his charges were determined to be true, and he and his Canadian "King’s Daughter" wife (by marriage to soldier first husband) were escorts of the "Pelican Girls" from France to 1704 old up-river Mobile, Alabama.

That year daughter Jeanne Louise Burel wed Canadian marine Maj. Francoise Trudeau, Sr., who 1702 built Mobile’s first fort—my ancestors. Her "Pelican Girl" sister, Genivieve Burel wed Claude Trapagnier, and sister Marguerite Burell wed Gilbert Dardenne. I know descendents of both sisters. Etienne Burel was old up-river Mobile’s first inn keeper.

The "Pelican" was the ship they arrived on.  I’m in the Canadian "La Societe des Filles du Roi", and it would be nice of the Mobile "Pelican Girls" had a coat-of-arms display also. Any ideas for one? Jim

Very nicely done Chap, that is an excellent rendition!

Jim- I do not know of any CoA for the individuals that you mention, but I can look around and see what I can dig up.  The detail at which you searched out your ancestry is amazin in itself.
