The University of Sydney Archives and Heraldry Australia Inc. presents "I Will Achieve", an exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of the University’s grant of arms.  The exhibition was officially opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gavin Brown AO, on Thursday 17 May 2007 and will be in place until early August 2007.  It is being held on Level 2 of Fisher Library (in the Rare Books Collection display cases) at the University of Sydney’s main campus.  Viewing times are the opening hours of Fisher Library, being 8:30am until 10:00pm Mon-Thurs, 8:30am- 8pm Fri, 9am-5pm Sat and 1pm-5pm Sun during Semester One (ends Saturday 30 June).  The library then operates at reduced hours until the start of Semester Two (begins Monday 23 July).

The exhibition includes the original Letters Patent for the coats of arms for the University of Sydney, St Pauls College, St Andrews College, and for the former Cumberland College of Health Sciences.  There are also interpretive panels providing further historical boackground regarding the coats of arms, as well as illustrations and artefacts showing the coats of arms in use.

This exhibition would not have been possible without the financial support of the Chancellor’s Committee and of Dr J Forrest, and this support is gratefully acknowledged.

An online exhibition which will further explore the University of Sydney’s heraldry will be launched later in the year.

These two exhibitions are part of Heraldry Australia’s Year of Academic Heraldry.  For further information regarding the participation of other universities please go to www.heraldryaustralia.org
