It’s difficult to imagine any enterprise that consistently makes as many errors as the Institute of Heraldry.  Here’s another one: http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/STB/STB3BrigadeCombatTeam1InfantryDivision.htm (a fret doesn’t have a bend and bendlet, but a bendlet and scarpe, or, as the latter is often euphemised, a bendlet sinister).

I would have thought that the ‘stylized hexagon’ used in place of the mascle in the emblazonment would have been a regular hexagon since it was not blazoned otherwise!

One man’s brussel sprout is another man’s skunk cabbage…while the blazon needs work, IMO the arms themselves are quite nice!

I’ve no beef (to get away from the vegetable metaphors) with the arms as emblazonment, but the arms as blazoned are both vague and nonsensical.

I’m sure those who are vets will remember the eternal truth that "there’s the right way, the wrong way, and the Army way"—perhaps that also applies to blazoning of distinctive unit insignia? smile

I think that’s a perfect metaphor actually, since I think both vegetables stink.

(I’m not that keen on these arms.)
