Some of the Catholic Arms of Colorado & Wyoming.

The arms of Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver are beautiful and their design and in combination with those of the archdiocese, which are simple and elegant. You can read about them at http://www.archden.org/archbishop/ab10.htm or see them below.

The arms of the Diocese of Pueblo are nice and are at http://www.dioceseofpueblo.com/BishopOffice/CoatofArmsDOP.htm but they are not colored well there, so try http://www.dioceseofpueblo.com/ Basically the arms are: Argent, a bary wavy azure, on a chief embattled gules, between two roses argent, a heart pierced and ensigned with a crown or.

The arms for Bishop Michael Sheridan of the Diocese of Colorado Springs are at http://www.diocs.org/CPC/Corner/index.cfm I like his personal arms, but not too thrilled about those used for the diocese.

The arms of Bishop David Ricken of the Diocese of Cheyenne, Wyoming arms can be seen below. However, the diocese arms are technically sable and argent not gules and argent, so I’m not sure how this rendering came about, but it is attractive:

Some of the Catholic diocese south & west of Colorado & Wyoming

The arms of Bishop George Niederauer of Salt Lake City, Utah (and more than half of Nevada) are at http://www.utahcatholicdiocese.org/departments/detail.php?idx=1

The coat of arms of the Diocese of Las Vegas, Nevada and Bishop Joseph Pepe are seen and explained at http://www.lasvegas-diocese.org/coat_of_arms.html Now reading the explanation of and seeing the representation of the diocesan arms is very nice. I really like this new (1995) diocese’ arms.

The coat of arms of the Diocese of Reno, Nevada are below

The coat of arms of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, New Mexico & Bishop Michael Sheehan are at http://www.archdiocesesantafe.org/ABSheehan/ABSCoatofArms.html  and are also nice.

Diocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico are at http://www.dioceseoflascruces.org/ but are not very visible.

The coat of arms of the Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico (and part of Arizona) & Bishop Donald Pelotte, SSS are at http://www.dioceseofgallup.org/bishop/coatofarms.htm and are nice as well.

The arms of the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona & Bishop Thomas Olmstead are at http://www.diocesephoenix.org/bishop/olmstedCoatDownload.htm and seen below

The arms of the Diocese of Tucson & Bishop Gerald Kicanas are at http://www.diocesetucson.org/bishop2.html although the diocesan arms in the bushop’s coat do not reflect exactly the arms to the left of the bishop of the diocese on the map of Arizona.

I know Archbishop Chaput! He’s the bishop of my diocese. He’s a great guy, didn’t know he had a coat of arms. (Well, I guess most priests do but I guess that just slipped my mind.) That’s cool

Hi Tom.

OT—He’s my bishop too. I met him when I was discerning a vocation to the priesthood. He is as nice in private as he appears in public. He is also very approachable. I write to him about once a month. He remembers my name when he sees me and that says a lot! He is a good bishop and I am thankful we are blessed with a good bishop.

Back on topic, I love his arms. Obviously I love the arms of the archdiocese. But, as to Archbishop Chaput’s arms I like how he combined his Native American and French ancestry with his calling. The arms are very clean and beautiful. Of course…someone could say I am biased, which I am, but I think the arms are excellent none-the-less.
