Has anyone been able to discover what has become of the South African Bureau of Heraldry? I know they never had a strong web presence, but our link doesn’t seen to work at all anymore.
They are still fully active, to my knowledge. You are correct though, they have never had a web site of their own!

Have you tried their e-mail addresses? If these are no longer available, I suggest that you write a letter and post it to the Bureau.
The Bureau has never had its own website, but it features on the website of the National Archives, of which it’s a branch.
Introduction, e-mail address, and downloadable leaflets and application form on:
http://www.national.archives.gov.za/index.htm
(Click on ‘Bureau of Heraldry’ and ‘Contact us electronically’)
Database of registered heraldic representations (only up to 2000/01):
http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300gi?200511281059328FBD8622&DB=HERE
Maybe this helps:

I sent an e-mail to this address in February and got a reply from Deputy Director of the Bureau, Marcel van Rossum. He was most helpful during our exchange of messages.
Thanks a lot everyone, I appreciate the assistance.
