743rd Tank Battalion. Activated 16 May 1942, landed in Normandy on D-day and fougth in ETO until the end of hostilities. Inactivated 27 November 1945.
747th Tank Battalion. The design clearly speaks of its place of Origin Camp Bowie, Texas where the Battalion was activated 5 May 1942. After landing in Normandy on D-day plus one it fought in the ETO. Inactivated in March 1946 but reactivated as a reserve unit in December the same Year. Recalled to active duty at the utbreak of the Korean War as the 747th Amphibious Tank and Tractor Battalion. Was not sent overseas and released from active duty in September 1953. Inactivated in January 1954.
