By Stefan Oliver and published in 1987. This is a wonderful beginner`s primer that has plenty of photos and drawings as examples. It covers the basics of Armorial Achievements pertaining to:terms,jargon,history,blazoning,religious use,charges/ordinaries/sub-ordinaries and the rules of metals/tinctures and furs.

I think this should be added to the Heraldic Bookshelf section as a great starter volume for us neophytes.This book gives the information but is not "dead" or "dry" so it reads quickly and will peak one`s interest to learn more about the Art of Heraldry.
