This could be interesting.  It would eliminate the red box in the corner and all you’d have is the Or shell and chevrons.

A slight change that I think I like better:

Blazoned?: Or a chevron engrailed gules voided of the field on a canton of the second an escallop of the first.

I like this one better than the first.  The ridges are easier to see this way.

I think Kenneth is thinking in terms of uniform appearance.

The United States Marine Corps has spend countless advertising dollars and hours into making sure that I know without a doubt, in no uncertain terms, that, regardless of how much the Army does before 9 a.m., regardless of how adventurous the Navy is, and no matter how high the Air Force aims, they are the best dressed military outfit this side of the Atlantic. OF COURSE I was thinking of the uniform. wink

Unless you want the edges pretty narrow, I think you’re better off blazoning it Or on a Chevron engrailed Gules a Chevronnel Or.... I like this one much better, but then I’ve always thought that I would difference the most common Mansfield arms by making the Chevron engrailed (and a different color) if I ever discovered a connection to that (those) armigerous lines.

Yes!  This is the better blazon for what I want depicted.  Thanks!

The USMC is definitely the best dressed of all the services.  Arguably the best dressed of all services anywhere in the world (ok, a bit off-topic here and I’m sure some of our international friends will take exception).  Has anyone seen their silent drill team perform - now THAT’s eye candy (for me at least).

Speaking of eye candy ...

time to stick the last few variation on the fridge (gold field, white field, different engrailing…) and let the subconscious mind do its thing for a while…

All nice designs, it will boil down to what you consciously or otherwise decide you really like.

Funny you say that…

I just taped both of these up on the window in front of the desk in my office for that very purpose:) (my version of the "fridge test"):
