I did them on a color laser printer. The shields are printed on stickers and the surcoats are printed on paper, which is then folded to hold where the torso and legs attach to each other. Scissors and a hole punch are the only "tools" required. Well, those and Adobe Illustrator.
Wow, those are amazing Kenneth. You did a great job with them. I really need to learn Illustrator better. lol I know the basics but just can’t get my ahead around the drawing/vectors aspects of it.
It would be really nice if Kenneth could attached a "template" of some sort for size. Then all of our artists could make many little heraldic persons to their hearts content without having to figure out size again…
Of course Kenneth remains the official "dresser" of the Society Officers’

I heard that the position of "Society Officer Dresser" is only bestowed upon one after defeating no less than ten other champions in single combat with flail and shield :shootout:... then as a final test, a cookie bake-off with those same opponents.
Would painting the heraldic designs on the Lego minifigs work less well in anyone’s opinion?

The surcoats actually hang down, so you couldn’t just paint that on the figures. As for the shields, painting would be fine as long as you can do fine detail work. I think though, that printed graphics are much more LEGOish.
Painting something that small, with that much detail would be a very difficult task.

It’s not as difficult as you’d think. The 28 mm figures I painted obsessively in my youth are actually much smaller then a Lego minifig (41 mm, according to the internet). They’re a lot bigger then 10-12 regiments of 15 mm tall Prussians I painted when I wanted to play Warfare in the Age of Reason. It wasn’t hard. My very first regiment, painted when I was about 12, had belt buckles and eyes. Granted my technique wouldn’t work on minifigs because they have no raised details to play with, but it’s not like you’re going for a photorealism on a legoman.
Your arms, for example, you’d be 90% done after you mastered painting a white line a few mm thick. After that’s done a pen can do the cotised bit. The maple leaves would be tricky, but if you have a small enough brush and practice on a piece of scrap paper a few times you’ll be able to paint a leaf that looks good enough.

Haha, yeah my main layout isn’t what would be difficult, it’s those darn maple leaves :D. Especially since there’s three of them, if you aren’t consistent, it starts looking poor very quickly.
The maple leaves could be stylized to reduce detail. If you look at the original Lego heraldic devices in the other thread, all the charges seem to be "dumbed down" for easy recognition since they are so small. I would probably try to immitate this procedure in rendering any new devices.
