There seems to be a lot of heraldry found on different types of wine.  Here is the latest one I ran across.

That’s a good one - and I’m not referring to the heraldry per se.

I’m actually planning on brewing my own hard cider this fall and was planning on making labels with my own heraldry to put on some of the bottles I give away.

I know what you mean about the "quality" smile.

No tincture violation here, these are not the droids we’re looking for.

EDIT: it’s probably being perceived as questionable because the Or is being mistaken for brown since it’s so old? raspberry

Joshua, you’ve seen that image before here:

It’s from the Codex Manesse ca. 1340.  I don’t know what you mean by questionable, but I give 670-year-old arms the benefit of the doubt.

The custom (which I made up in my own little head) of the armorial vignoblesse…

Actually heraldic wine labels are one of the few (maybe the only) examples of Federal legal protection of arms—in the CFR’s of the Treasury Dept’s bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms [may not be the current title] which regulates production and sale of alcoholic beverages, including approval of wine labels.  Don’t have the citation handy, sorry…

It may just be my eyes (Little color blind) but to my eyes it looked like it has a blue and maroon checkerboard pattern on a red shield.  That’s what I was calling into question.

Yeah, pretty sure that’s not Sanguine or Murrey, but in fact a really tarnished Or. :D

There is an illustrated article in the latest issue of the Gonfanon, the quarterly newsletter of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada, on a collection of wine labels that the author had recently purchased.  More than half the labels had heraldry on them.
