Just finished wall plaque for my dad: Boyd Sylvester Garrison. It’s simple, but I intend to do more involved art in the future… my first few plaques for family were more test runs really.

And for those who hadn’t seen the plaques I did for my two brothers Abel (youngest) and Travis (next oldest after me)...

Very nice, Jeffrey. What materials did you use?
Your choice of stains in the wood gives the design an almost 3D effect. Well done!
Nice!
Very nice! I’m eager to see more in the future.
Wow, those are very nice. I’m in awe of everyone’s artistic talents on here.
Jeffrey, you passed the test ! I wonder what was an opinion of the family members ??
Thanks everyone for the encouragement!
Arthur, I just use water based acrylic paints and matte varnish for sealant.
Anna, my brother Travis said that he would have liked the cougar head if there were grey shading and lines rather than how it looks as almost just a silhouette. I agree with him and I will probably do a more medieval style cat head next time with shading rather than almost solid black.
Cougars -specially the young once- have very pretty markings on their face ,so maybe your brother is right that you should try a different style painting .
Meet the challenge

Meet the challenge :D
In unrelated stuff, another emblazonment of my dad’s arms, basically a colored pencil drawing which has been enhanced with GIMP (free program) which shows I have a long way to go in learning to use this software, oh well, practice makes perfect!

Latest doodle of my dad’s (Boyd Sylvester Garrison) arms on 2.5" x 3.5" card (also known as ACEO) using pen & ink and acrylic paint…

Very nice!
Thankyou Harold.
Nice! I like the crest!!!!!
Thanks Michael!
And only now do I notice, that I probably did the mantling wrong. I think the "color" (in this case Sable) is supposed to be of the outer mantling while the lining is traditionally supposed to be the metal?
Anyone have input on whether I should correct this or if there is precedent to just go with the error? lol (i can actually repaint this portion if it’s advisable)
Artistic license makes up for many a "mistake" - I think the mantling looks perfectly appropriate in the very charming illustration you’ve created, Jeffrey, and I don’t think black-lined-white would improve it one bit.
