Thanks all for the advice and encouragement!
I will start out with the following and see if I get nibbles…
$30 plus S&H for the 7x9" plaques
$20 plus S&H for the 5x7" plaques
It’s only the shield and not the full achievement (I wanna bite off only what I can chew to start) so if there is more demand I can raise the price to satisfy the real artists.
So, I AM NOW TAKING A FEW COMMISSIONS if anyone is interested or knows anyone who might be. :D
Please PM me if you would like to put me to work on your arms and/or get more details about them. Or you can also email me at jbgarrison72@hotmail.com. Thanks!!!
There are ways to calculate how much to charge as an artist, but I’m not sure you want to quite get into that much detail. If you’re just starting out it’s good to calculate the price of the materials, plus the amount of hours you spend on the project. The problem with this system later on is that you will eventually get faster completing project, and doing things by an hourly rate doesn’t work.

Agree, BUT you have to start somewhere. And at the same time you get faster, generally the quality of the art gets better… so it’s kind of a trade off!
Although you can’t equate it to what you make at an hourly rate doing whatever your "other" career might be… because the markets don’t equate. So there must be some "I like doing it" worked in….
With your permission Jeff, for those of us on the other side of the pond, the sizes quoted in centimetres are approximately…... :D
US$30 plus S&H for 17.8cm x 22.9cm plaques
US$20 plus S&H for 12.7cm x 17.8cm plaques
Thankyou Richard.

Agreed, I’m mainly just saying to not come in with too low of a bid, just because you’re doing more as a hobby, when there are artists who are trying to make a career of it, and you’re hurting them just because it’s not a big deal to you haha.

Richard, that Gules will end up being Sanguine.
Wow Jeff! Congratulations on putting this together. Those are looking very nice. I can’t wait to see more of your work.

Jeff, I straddle two heraldic jurisdictions. The stain ‘sanguine’ isn’t recognised in Scandinavia where my arms are registered. Here, my arms are blazoned ‘on a red field strewn with gold nails’. You can in fact use both.
Thanks for the clarification Richard! :D
(and thankyou Jesse for the compliment!)
Work in progress…
