Dear Colleagues,

Here’s the problem.  I am designing a personal badge and am at a loss for a design.  I know I want a circle of twelve iron links, black.  Now, inside, I want to represent honey. Recall the chain and honeycomb in my crest.

Can’t figure out how to represent honey.  The honeycomb seems too "messy" for a badge.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I do not think it’s too messy. On the contrary, I think it would be quite nice.

What about 7 cells from a honeycomb - a central one surrounded by six others, all Or

I think the honeycomb itself would be quite nice.  Perhaps you could circle the middle cell with the links that you were thinking about?

or maybe a bee within a hexagon, if that’s not too redundant within the chain?

... with, perhaps, the hexagon delineated by a chain (with two links per side)?

I think the bee and honeycomb ideas are the best.

Just finished reading Winnie the Pooh to my kids.  If you want something different, how about a heraldic jar (presumably one full of honey)?  A bear’s head or an African honey badger would also be nice but a less obvious connection for most people.

While the Honey badger might be fine, given it’s current meme status, this one might seem a dated choice in another year.

As anyone in the southeastern quadrant of the United States must now, it’s dated already.

How about a winged honey bear?—the proper blazoning term is, I believe, a Pooh-gasus…

I wasn’t aware that the Honey Badger was an "in trend" animal in the US.  Maybe it would be better to stick with the tried and true honey bee or honeycomb.  Joseph’s golden drop is also quite distinctive.

Perhaps a honeycomb with a golden drop in each cell?

The suggestions that you’ve gotten so far are great (I really like Joseph’s goutte de miel idea) - but if you’re alluding to your crest, have you considered just using your crest as a badge?  Or go the more-Scottish route and use your crest encircled by your motto?  Just a thought…
