My mother gave me this wonderful book for Christmas:
It addresses many of the topics that we’ve discussed here before- the Bigham family of stone cutters, the "assumption" of arms for gravestones by the Scots Irish (who were strongly opposed to the Crown during the Revolution), etc.
I’m looking forward to reading it and will post a review if time permits, but figured some of you (Joe, in particular) might want to get a copy.
I hope he explains that many of the coats of arms don’t belong to the people underneath the headstones. :shock:
