RE: the manteling, the usual practice would be "Sable doubled Argent"—i.e. black with white lining, which IIRC is what you have in mind.

"If I recall correctly."

You really don’t need to mention the tinctures of the mantling at all, just as you don’t mention those of the torse, since they are both in the main color and metal of the shield.

Well crap, "The Registry accepts only blazons and emblazonments of basic achievements: shield, helm, and crest. We reject emblazonments of personal arms with supporters, mantles, robes of estate, open-visor helms, barred helms, and crown configurations that imply nobility" (http://usheraldicregistry.com/index.php?n=Main.Services). But i’m guessing i can get the mantling done somewhere else, right?

Mantling is different from a mantle.

Mantling is the decorative cloth bit hanging down from the helm.  A mantle is an additional robe-like element.

No need to specify the colors of your mantling.  These will be either the primary color and metal (Sable doubled Argent) or the "default" colors (Gules doubled Argent).  That’s something you can specify with your artist.

With the resent corrections, this is what i have:

Shield: Argent a hart courant over three chevronels sable.

Crest: A hart’s head Sable with three chevronels charged on the side of the neck argent.

Mantle: Argent and Sable.

Motto: Acta non Verba

I think I would probably phrase it this way:

Crest: A hart’s head Sable charged on the side of the neck with three chevronels Argent.

So, I just made it Facebook official. After talking with Jeff, i’ve made the choice of assuming my arms on 9/13/13. After looking back at the thread’s and finding the post of me wanting it that was the date i’m going to use. So a big thank you for everyone contribution to my CoA’s! Again, giving credit where credit is due! Thank you to the individuals’ who helped make this happen. With that i’m happy that i just choose to just jump in a assume it. smile

Nice arms.  I really like the way the crest references the shield and the cant on your surname.  We’ll done.

Robert,

A very nice achievement!—I think you did very well for yourself.  My only constructive criticism is that some of the outlining could be in a contrasting color (e.g., lighter shade of grey)  to make the head, face, antlers, etc., more distinguishable.

Nice work by Sandy, though you might check to see if he’d be willing to increase the number of alternating colors on the fringe of the banner so that there is white on either side of the stag’s snoot. There is not set number and it would improve the visibility immensely.
