While searching the National Library of Ireland holdings of the Chief Herald’s records on line for something else, I chanced upon the recording of JFK’s grant of arms. It adds nothing to Joe’s article at http://www.americanheraldry.org/pages/pmwiki.php?n=President.Kennedy
but may be of some interest. The photocopy of the grant can be found at http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000529314#page/69/mode/1up with a typescript transcript on the previous page:
There is another, I assume unrelated, Kennedy from New York receiving a similar grant later in the volume perhaps inspired by the Presidential grant
Of equal interest perhaps is the record of the late President of Ireland Eamon de Valera at:
and the grant immediately preceding it to Charles Haughey, the later controversial Taoiseach of Ireland (and son of an IRA fighter), at: http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000529314#page/178/mode/1up
Wow, that’s pretty cool
Does anyone here know what the other side of the coin looks like?
According to the source you got it from, "The obverse of the coin shows an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS."
Presumably this one, which seems to be on all current BVI coins:
