Ditto Luis - change comes slowly when there is no official authority to initiate or sanction it.  But even without any State or Federal heralds regulating personal or familial heraldry, significant changes in society may affect heraldic practices—for example, changes in American laws affecting primogeniture (making cadency less, if at all, necessary) or adoption (affecting armorial inheritance) or same-sex marriage (which we’re still working out heraldically) or gender equality (ditto).  The details may take longer to work out without heraldic officialdom, but to me that’s preferable to the likely knowledge level - or ill-advised "creativity" - of the heralds we’d likely get smile
