    Known as the "Apostle of the Alleghenies." A Russian prince who converted to Catholicism, came to America in 1792, and founded the first English-speaking Catholic mission west of the Alleghenies at Loretto, Pa. He was designated a "Servant of God" by the Catholic Church in 2005, the first step toward possible canonization as a saint.

    Foundress of the Sisters of Charity, the first Catholic religious order founded in the United States; canonized 1975. The arms are those of her husband, William Magee Seton (NEHGS Roll of Arms No. 505), impaling those of Bayley as borne by her nephew, M. Rev. James Roosevelt Bayley, on his seal as archbishop of Baltimore. As a widow, she would have displayed these arms on a lozenge.
