Here are some of the arms I’ve drawn. All are B&W or color sketches except for the one for Ms. LEM which is a finished product.

Denny, these are very cool. A nice body of work. I’m especially liking the work you did for M’hammed.

Assumption Catholic School (these were the first arms, but I can’t find the final ones…)

This is merely a fanciful rendering to help give ideas to people…note the ‘tenny shoes’ on the man in the kilt…LOL…I caught it too late…oh well…

What do ya think of this sample of my renderings? Not bad…could get better…could be worse…see ya…

You have a very unique, expressive and recognizable style, and I am sure that you will get many requests!  I can’t wait to see your website!

Thanks Mike. I can’t wait either. Clarissa and I go out this weekend for our first date. She starts back this semester as well (18 CRHR), so we’ll see how this goes. Either way I get a few nice dates with a nice gal…even if she is only 23, which for me is rather weird, as I’m 34.

Thanks Hassan.

What did you think of M’Hammed’s arms?

He likes them. He even wanted the Saracen head at the middle point of the saltire. Which, to be honest I wasn’t sure about; it rubbed me wrong. But, then I remembered the arms that many Irishmen, Scottsmen, Welshmen, etc have with "savage" men’s heads and even ‘Englishmen’s heads’ as in the case of the crest of O’Moore. So, I figured if he wanted it and there was another precedence of it in other heraldic forms, so be it.

I have to say it doesn’t appear really French, which your thread mentioned was an influence in Algerian heraldry. But, if he comes back to me for more work I might change it somehow for half off if he wants it. I just like to try to give people as culturally native a coat of arms as I can. I almost feel like I let him down on this after reading your threads - I wish I was aware of them before I rendered them…oh well…you live and learn I guess. smile

you are not the only one my wife is 11 years and 3 months younger then myself smile

I like the arms you have drawn, I can clearly see that you have been looking at other artists, only one suggestion perhaps you should try painting arms I think they would look even better then.

Denny,

I’m impressed with your emblazons and certainly see a personal style developing.

I especially like Mr. GDM’s arms, and the arms of BMCHS—especially the way the crescent wraps around the cross.

I like your emblazon of Hassan’s Arms as well—especially the crest.  As for the shield, the image is too small for me to distinguish the mullets: are they Vert or Sable?

Regarding the design execution, I think you should make the Turk’s Head a wee bit larger within the current saltire; right now it appears slightly diminished (at least to me) and therefore does not present the proud majestic (or fierce!) visage I infer it should mean.  Alternately, you could widen the saltire just a bit which would create more open space for a much larger head.  Also, I think the turban should be larger in relation to the head.

Looking at the crest again: I just had an idea borne of a design I once saw depicted in a medieval melee/mock-combat painting.  You could create this crest in 3-d on a real tourney helm!  Make two identical crests then join them at right-angles (down the center) to the other.  That way you would see the crescent-star from the four cardinal directions.

Good work Denny!
