Ok, so I’m a stickler for references, most of the time. I do register copyrights on emblazonments that are original designs, or that are hand painted. But in this case let me say that there is no need to cite me. The emblazonments in the Roll of Early American Arms are created with a clip-art program from Corel.
The basic form of the shield and the ordinaries are from Corel, as are some of the charges. The rest of the charges come from a variety of sources. In any case by the time I mix and match, color, redraw and modify, I am confident that I have not violated any copyright laws. (I did a lot of reading about copyright before I began this endeavor.) In any case If members use these images outside of the Forum I simply ask that they cite the AHS.
I wasn’t concerned about copyright, just giving credit where it’s due. Even with clipart, the task you’ve taken on is a substantial one.
Well in that case don’t forget to cite yourself. Joe, I couldnt do it without you.
