Dear colleagues,
I have returned here again after long absence (within three weeks I was in Russia) to bring to your attention my new work.
It is the arms for one Russian client who has the European surname "Luxembourg". Here I have decided to apply a method of "canting arms" ("from name to image"!) and have created the arms-rebus on the basis of accord of two parts of a surname "Luxembourg" and two words "Lynx" and "Burg." In German language "lynx" refers to "Luchs" (the Dutch word is almost similar). As additional stimulus the following circumstance has served: this man works in Siberia in the big oil company. Actually, all his life is connected with Siberia and I should notice that the lynx is rather characteristic representative of the Siberian fauna. Besides Mr. Luxembourg is the fan of hunting and fishing, and also sports navigation on the Siberian rivers. Thus, the motif of Siberia in this aspect is very important too. Some features of his character (as far as I could know it) can be symbolized by means of an image of the lynx protecting a castle.
Probably, some colleagues will find a problem turn of a head of a lynx in a crest. I long thought of this and have decided to turn a head of an animal full-face though the lynx is shown sideview. I have do it for the sake of greater expressiveness as the head of a lynx is most expressive a full-face. Thus, I have been forced to make small deviation from a canon for the sake of art. In the blason of a crest, of course, turn of a head of a lynx should not be mentioned. In a picture of other artist or, especially, in a sculptural embodiment of these arms the head of a lynx in a crest, most likely, will be turned in a direction of all body.
It is the increased fragment of a picture
Beautifully done!
Incredible work. Just beautiful.
amazing work
I wonder how one would blazon the crest…
wow….all I can truly say is…....wow! Everything looks as those it has depth…like it is alive. Amazing work!
Stunning. My hat is off to you.
P.S. I don’t see having the lynx’s head turned as a problem, either in general or as part of a blazon. My crest (still "slightly" under development) features a demi-stag rampant guardant.
Your artistic rendering is as fine as it always is. The use of a native species, the Siberian Lynx, is to be commended.

I am a bit perplexed why you use a European style castle rather then a Russian style brick Kreml. I think that a Kreml would be a better reference to Russia than a stone castle that can only be seen around the Saint Petersburg region. Here is just a small corner of my favourite Kreml, in Nizhny Novgorod:

Nice work! I’am however puzzeld by the name Luxembourg as this seems to imply any connection with the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg.

Here in America, I have come upon this surname a number of times. It could be that the original immigrant to Russia might have been from Luxembourg. There are thousands of Americans with surnames like England, Englund, Canada, English, French, Deutsch, etc.

Not just in the US. Let us not forget the German revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg, the Polish-British Marxist Isaac Deutscher, and many others.
And American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, though his name is spelled one letter different than the principality.

And it should be noted that the Grand Ducal Family’s name is Nassau originaly (when thier original territory was swallowed up by Prussia, they later recived Luxembourg as compensation). As for Englund I’am sure this is a Scandinavian name with no connection to any Country, the meaning beeing something like "Meadow Grove".
