Alright I was just wondering…since it said it’d take 7-10 days.

Joe Winslow, owner of the Regimental Gift Company, who is fulfilling these orders as a volunteer for the AHS is seldom on the forum (at least compared to many of us), so rather than posting here you may wish to contact him offline.

The only thing I don’t like about the AHS lapel pins is the lack of visual depth of field. They are flawlessly manufactured, but it takes a really close look with really good lighting to be able to see that (or maybe my eyesight is just going the same way as my hearing).

Yesterday I took a black Sharpie and colored the entire front of my pin, being sure to get down in all the nooks and crannies. Then I took a paper towel with some Goo Gone on it and wiped it off. This left the recessed areas still black or at least very dark. It really makes the wonderful features of the pin really stand out.

I thought I’d share in case anyone else had thought about doing anything similar. I think it turned out great. I couldn’t find my wife’s camera to take a picture, but will try to do that this weekend.

And if you haven’t purchased one, you should!

An interesting idea Kenneth to say the least.  As I was reading your post I was questioning your sanity a little for awhile.  I’d be interested in seeing a picture though to see if it’s something I’d like to do with my own.

Ken of course used a permanent-ink Sharpie, but you could experiment with a less permanent (washable) marker to see if you like the effect.

I have given this thread a "bump" and made it a permanent "sticky" since some of our newer members may not be aware that these pins are available.  Sale of the pin has been, shall we say, "less than stellar."  For several years, members of the Society have been asking for a pin such as this…well, here it is!  If you haven’t ordered one yet, what are you waiting for?  The link for ordering can be found in the first post of this thread.

I’m glad you hit this thread with a defibrillator.  I thought about it just the other day and intended to look it up.  I’ll be ordering my pin right away!

Pinning this topic is an excellent idea!  I ordered one a few weeks ago, and I really enjoy wearing it.  Be the first on your block to own one!

Mine arrived yesterday, I intend to try the trick with the sharpie.

I did, and it came out really nicely.  I applied a bit too much, but a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol took care of my heavy-handedness.

For those thinking about the sharpie method, here’s how it might turn out.
