It was fourteen years ago today that, having finally settled on a suitable design, I assumed my coat of arms and added a priest’s galero to the achievement, it being the day on which I was ordained.
Congratulations, Father. On ALL counts. Your arms have stood the test of time, and your vocation has clearly continued to bring you satisfaction. Few of us can make that claim.
Allow me to include my congratulations also Father Guy. I’ve always admired your arms and look forward to your informative posts.
After awhile, one’s arms become a part of one’s persona—in this case, a particularly nice part of an altogether admirable persona.
congratulations :(
Congratulations, Father Guy.
I second that. Myself I can’t remember on which Day I assumed my Arms. But its nearing 10 Years since I did that, I guess.
Well it was easy for me to remember the actual date I assumed the arms because not wanting to use a coat of arms without the priest’s galero I specifically waited until I was ordained to assume arms. It was then that I registered them with the American College of Heraldry and commissioned the late Richard Crossett to emblazon my arms. (that version is my avatar here) When you attach the assumption of a a coat of arms to some other significant event then it is easier to keep the date in mind.
They are excellent arms Guy and I look forward to producing a new version for you in the not too distant future.

Dear Fr. Selvester,
My best wishes to you on this double anniversary!
I received my arms on the feast of St. Vincent of Zarragoza, deacon and holy martyr. I always mark the day with a good bottle of wine and toasts to St. Vincent and to the heraldic officer who certified my arms - though I am not known to need any excuses to enjoy a good bottle of wine!
Two great anniversaries to celebrate! I assumed my arms on the Feast of Our Lady of Montserrat.

I don’t know yet - we’ll have to wait until the first anniversary rolls around
Hard to believe another year has come and gone! Fifteen years ago today I was ordained a priest…and assumed my coat of arms (having waited for ordination so I could include the galero).
Best wishes on your anniversary, Fr. Guy.
