Recently I finshed a couple wonderful family crests on canvas and leather.
For my paintings I prefer to use small brushes to bring out all details, adding fine brushwork, blendings and shadows.
The first crest is painted on canvas, the second on soft leather -
I love painting on leather it adds a noble / rustic feel to the finished crest painting.

these are very nice! I look forward to seeing more work.
WOW WOW WOW these are beautiful!!!!!!!
yes - that;s a good rule too. I have seen so many different crests which are always changing in the design. This particular crest is actually a copy from an original crest painting which were found in an old manor house while restoration work - small changes has been made on the latest version.
Thanks everybody for the compliments - I will be happy to add once in a while some unique family crest paintings / projects…maybe they will give you some new ideas.
Well done! When you paint on leather, Gerhard, what type of leather is used?
Thanks Richard - most of the time I use, elk - deer- cow and goat hide.
Goat and deer are very soft hides.
