Silver, actually. But the diocese sometimes depicts it as Proper.
I think the reply to that motto is, "Lord! Change the channel."
Ditto all above. I don’t think "proper" is appropriate in any blazon of these impaled arms.
I suppose a really good heraldic artist could make these attractive, but might still balk at signing them…
