I came across this fine rendering of the arms of the late Richard Cardinal Cushing of Boston fittingly enough on the front of Cushing Hall on the campus of Boston College.
Ohhhh maaaannnn… abso-freakin’-lutely awesome!!!
Actually I agree. Very well done indeed.
Excellent on at least three levels—design (of the arms), interpretation (artistic layout), & execution (craftsmanship). Very, very nice work!
The arms of Thomas Cardinal Wolsey at Hampton Court palace which he built and which Henry VIII stole from him as a gift for Anne Boleyn…obviously before he got angry enough at Anne to kill her.
Heraldry in the courtyard at Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk. This is the ancestral home of the current York Herald, Henry Paston-Bedingfeld. As one enters the courtyard there is this doorway directly ahead with all its lovely heraldry and heraldic beasts.
a-w-e-s-o-m-e-!
i love this stuff. one thing… is the arms of the good cardinal in a courtyard or something? it looks like it is almost ground level… is it?

Denny,
To me the arms look like they’re placed above the arch of a doorway.
