Question for David: on what basis does Mark Thatcher rate "Honourable"? As the son of a baroness? Do children of life peers get such courtesy titles?
The children of life peers receive the same styles as those of hereditary peers of the same rank. As all life peers have thus been barons or baronesses, their children receive the style of Honourable for their own lifetimes. As you well know Mark Thatcher’s rogue behaviour in Africa has been very much an embarrassment to his mother and the British government. There was some thought in Parliament at one time in trying to revoke his title but this action has since been abandoned.
