Alexander,
Thank you for posting these again. I saw them briefly last night but didn’t get to study them. Excellent work!
I viewed these at 5:00 this morning and commented then. I echoed George Lucky’s comment that, particularly, the rendition of Aurelio’s arms, done in the Victorian style, really captures the essence of the heraldry of that period. The other arms are very nice (really very nice - don’t get me wrong), but you invite comparison with the master Duhrer, in so closely mimicking his work.
Magnificent stuff.
You even got an atta-boy from Joe, who usually refrains from posting in these types of threads. He then sabotaged the Internet, taking the whole site with it, so there would be no proof of it.
haha was my post the only one missing? strange…
be careful, you remember, he might come for you next
was going for the durer look, the man that wanted it liked durers arms a lot. im just happy that it mimics it enough that you can tell. mimicking someone like him isnt too bad of an accusation.
Very beautiful work sir! Thank you for posting the detail shots. Didn’t get the time to look at them closely in the first post. The hatching is wonderful.
Alexander,
I saw the original post (before the glitch) and you had mentioned something about etchings? I know you wrote that these are drawings, but do you have experience with etchings?
I took a printmaking course in college, but afterward, without a press, my interest waned. But as my interest in heraldry has deepened I’ve been looking into giving it another shot.
ive done about 5 etchings, but same problem, given that i did not own the press made it difficult to continue them. was nice to have so many copies of a drawing without as much effort
and my grandfathers arms

And the blazon and explanation behind the arms?

Now this is something! It certainly reminds me of de Bruin’s work, but I wouldn’t even necessarily say it is his style. This is fantastic original heraldic art. I would like to see the helmet sitting on the top of the shield instead of floating in the air above it, but that’s my only criticism.
What is the medium? What is the original size?
Very nice work, Xander.

Don’t know if there was ever an explanation, but the blazon is on this thread.

I was about to submit a post but saw that Kenneth posted exactly the same thing I was going to say
it is about 3 inches by 5 inches. pretty small. it is ink and paint.
and the very tip of the helm is on the shield, was going for the precariously placed helm.
and with the blazon linked, the explanation of the arms is that i was given two meanings to my name Liptak. one is it means strong oak tree, the other is small lime tree. i refer the former over the latter. so an oak tree sprouts from an ox, a strong animal, a play on the name.
thank you for the kind words as well

Keep developing your style and double the size of the "canvas", and I for one would gladly pay you for an emblazonment of my arms.
that ground hog would look nice, wouldnt he
Nice Alexander.
Your work (etchings especially) don’t remind me of de Bruin as much as it does of some most excellent Germanic work found here: http://www.zum-kleeblatt.de/pageID_1143204.html
And here (especially check out Carl Albrecht – a great artist to be linked to in my opinion and sort of Otto Hupp – another Master it is nice to be linked to IMO):

– just my opinion only.
Again this is nice work.
