This shield is painted in "old world" - scraffito technique ( this is not graffito )

Scraffito is an old painting technique which has been used for decorating of buildings -see pictures below.

Before I started to be more serious about heraldry art I was an mural artist, so I use now some of the techniques in my heraldry paintings.

I cut the plaque in the shape of the shield and added some antiquing to it-

it’s about 30" x 36" inches (76 x 92 cm)

Mostly I use acrylic - for portraits/ figures oil.
